Cardozo School of Law where he was on the Law Review in both his second and third years, graduating (J.D.) in 1984.

He worked as an associate attorney from 1984 to 1991 at Wilson, Elser, et. al - a large firm NYC law firm with both a local and national (and later international) practice. At Wilson, Elser, he defended the manufacturers and distributers of numerous products sold in the United States, including programs of cases against recreational power boats, scuba equipment, farm equipment such as tractors and roller compactor vehicles, computerized lathes and cyanacrylate glues ( including "Krazy Glue®").

From 1992 through mid 1996 Mr. Sundheim worked at the firm of Kral, Clerkin, et al. defending products liability cases and many premises' liability cases brought against property owners and managers. At that time, he also began defending New York Labor law matters which involve construction site accidents and all of the various trades that work in construction.

In 1996 he left Kral Clerkin to open his own law offices. In 2002, he took his part of the practice, which had grown substantially, to form Steven R. Sundheim & Associates, LLC with offices in New York and Connecticut. The Firm handled hundreds of cases in New York State, the majority of them being high profile/serious accident matters pending in all of the New York City venues.  The Firm achieved a very high degree of successful outcomes in this work, via trials, motions for summary judgment and negotiated settlements.

From mid 2008 to 2010, Mr. Sundheim was a partner with the law firm of Jones Garneau, LLP (subsequently "Jones Morrison, LLP") handling a combination of plaintiff and defendant personal injury matters, along with employment law and other commercial litigation matters.

In January of 2011, Mr. Sundheim reopened the Firm - Steven R. Sundheim & Associates, LLC, in downtown White Plains, New York.
